To request a facility rental or general event booking, please complete the Facility Rental Request form and submit it to USRC2020@recreationexcellence.com or contact the facility at (250) 842-6662 (ext 1004)
Private bookings
Ice rental
Booking fees:
- Family social skate: $124.00 per hour
- Youth/senior group: $82.65 per hour
- Adult: $180.85 per hour
Booking details:
- Skate rentals are not included in your booking. Skate rentals are $3.15 each (CSA-approved helmet included) and can be added to your invoice or paid separately (subject to availability).
- Rentals are available for any duration, pending ice availability.
- Groups may bring their own skates and CSA-approved helmets.
- Guests booking for a birthday party are welcome to use the lobby area free of charge to set up a few tables for snacks and beverages. For added privacy, a dressing room can be rented upon request.
Supervision requirement:
- Children under 12 years of age must be supervised (on the ice, wearing skates) by a guardian 19+ years of age. Maximum of 5 children to 1 guardian.
Minimum 7 days advance notice required. Reservations based on availability. Full payment required to confirm/hold dates.
Conference room rental
Available for hourly or daily bookings. Rates apply to all parties, meetings, and gatherings.
Booking fees:
- Hourly: $36.20 per hour
- Full day: $273.85 per event
- Damage deposit: $135.00 per event
Additional services:
- Optional clean-up service: $50.00
- Optional set-up and take-down of tables and chairs: $50.00
Minimum 7 days advance notice required. Reservations based on availability. Full payment required to confirm/hold dates.
Gymnasium rental
Available for hourly or daily bookings for parties, meetings, and special events.
Booking fees:
- Hourly: $67.15 per hour
- Full day: $516.65 per event
- Damage deposit: $255.00 per event
Booking details:
- When food or beverages are served, gym floor mats must be laid out. A $50.00 setup/takedown fee will automatically be applied. This fee includes tables and chairs.
- Small birthday parties may use the lobby area free of charge to set up tables for drinks, snacks, or presents.
- Equipment is available upon request, subject to availability.
- Optional post-event cleaning service: $50.00

Large event bookings
Minimum 90 days advance notice required (subject to availability). Full payment and proof of insurance required to confirm/hold dates.
Commercial and large events – Applies to events that charge admission, sell tickets, or merchandise.
Weddings and special events – For private celebrations such as weddings, receptions, and large gatherings.
Non-profit, youth and senior group bookings
Discounted rates may apply for qualifying groups. Minimum 7 days advance notice required (subject to availability). Full payment and proof of non-profit status and insurance required to confirm/hold dates.
Non-Profit – Organizations must submit valid registered non-profit documentation at the time of rental agreement.
Youth Groups – Applies to sport, community, or cultural activities where participants are under 19 years of age.
Senior Groups – Applies to a sport or community or cultural activity where participants are over 60 years of age.
Insurance
Rental groups, schools, clubs, and sport organizations are required to provide proof of insurance documentation for a $5 million dollar liability policy listing the following as additional insureds:
- Canadian Recreation Excellence Corporate
- Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine
- Upper Skeena Recreation Centre
Cancellations
2 weeks notice of cancellation is required for a full refund. Full fees apply to cancellations less than 14 days.
Damage deposits
Refunded damage deposits are dependent on the condition of the space and equipment after the rental. The Recreation Excellence team will conduct pre and post event inspections with the event host to determine the expectations and requirements. The damage deposit refund may be processed up to 2 business days after the event.
